Alan & Karen, 1970 (Screen Study)
Painting from a scanned, found film negative, opened onto my computer screen, the physicality of the negative became intertwined with the digital impact of the screen. The scratched surface, also coated with dust, interfered with the photographic image beneath. It was further transformed by the blue solarisation created by the tilting of the computer screen.
This painting therefore, painted from this image on my screen, forms an investigation into the conflict between the image and the physical, and between the image and the screen.
