Janet & Car (Screen Study)

The digital screen is undoubtedly illuminating. It glows, it flickers, it fills our room with light, some of which glares forth onto our faces. We see our reflection, and that of our environment, seemingly within the screen. We become overwhelmed with the life of the screen. This 'life' makes it an active entity.

Painting the digital image on this screen, onto an aluminium panel, replicates this backlit, active visual phenomenon. We can see the light reflecting off it, moving across the surface, peering outwards from within the paint. The screen-created solarisation becomes even more screen-based in this painting.
