Pixelated Screen Study 1
Pixelated Screen Study 1 is the first in a series of acrylic paintings investigating the qualities of the digital screen, through the notion of pixelation. As an entirely digital phenomenon, painting my screen-solarised portraits by utilising the zoom capabilities of the computer itself, to obscure the digital image, forms a critique on the nature of viewing screens. The image instead becomes pixelated and out-of-focus, which, when combined with the blue solarising hue of the monitor, create an entirely mutated digital image. I then translated this into the medium of painting.
