Self-Portrait 1 (Screen Study)

Self-Portrait 1 (Screen Study) maintains the evolution of the new level of abstraction within my recent painting installation works. I painted from referring to my computer screen, but instead of painting from a full reference image, I instead utilised the mutating qualities of the digital technology within the computer itself to further reference the mutation that its screen creates. Zooming in to the image to the point where it became blurry, but before it became pixelated, mutates the reality of the original image. Proceeding with tilting the screen to solarise this zoomed crop, before painting this and its dusty surface, creates an even more enhanced mutated viewing experience, as both the blue tones and the abstracted portrait are distorted.
